About This Exterior Remodel
This West Chester, PA homeowner came to Craftsworth Construction with a vision: take their dated ranch home and completely transform the exterior into a Craftsman-style residence that would stop people in their tracks. Our design-build remodeling team delivered exactly that — a whole home exterior renovation that turned a plain house into one of the most striking properties in the neighborhood.
The scope of this exterior remodel was extensive. New fiber cement siding replaced the outdated original, giving the home a clean, modern facade with long-lasting durability. The centerpiece of the renovation is a brand-new covered front porch with tapered cedar columns and natural stone veneer — the defining feature of the Craftsman aesthetic. The entire rear yard was regraded using heavy equipment, the old rotting wood deck was demolished and replaced with a new composite deck, engineered retaining walls were constructed with concrete block to manage the significant grade changes, and stamped concrete walkways and patios were poured to create functional outdoor living spaces.
The finishing touch is a professionally designed landscape lighting package. At dusk, the home transforms completely — architectural uplighting highlights the Craftsman details and stone veneer, the covered porch glows warmly, and the dormers are illuminated from below. The curb appeal difference between the original ranch and the finished product is as dramatic as any project we've completed in Chester County.
