This client came to Craftsworth Construction (CWC) with a previously finished basement space that was extremely dated including old wall paneling and a very chopped up space cut into difficult room divisions. These Chadds Ford clients had a vision to create a comfortable, large television area, plenty of play areas for the kids, a large home gym, and a full bathroom – making for basically a completely new living space utilizing the basement. After the design consultation with the CWC team, we got right to work behind the scenes by providing a plan that would make all of this work seemlessly, while also keeping an open flow (open concept design), as much as possible, given the basement structure. The team installed all new framing, mechanicals, under-the-slab plumbing, and all new wood windows. We installed insulation, drywall, trim and paint, before installing carpeting, tile, and rubber flooring throughout the basement. The gym area is true half-inch thick rubber flooring, full wall mirror and plenty of space for all of the equipment. The full bathroom consists of a stand-up 36-inch shower with tiled walls and frameless glass door, along with 36-inch vanity, and custom wall-papered walls. As part of this basement remodel, we installed three separate ductless mini split HVAC units to condition each space individually, plus allow for maximum energy efficiency!
